Take away the heavy editing and the over-directing and posing of every shot – and you're left with a genuine retelling of a moment.
My main priorities when capturing a wedding day are:
I will be your biggest advocate for doing your wedding day YOUR way. Timelines are a great way guide, but if your ceremony is running late because you want a few moments with your significant other, then we’re doing that. If family portraits go longer because your auntie can’t stop hugging you and expressing how happy she is for you, you better soak up those moments. You want to look back at your photos with the same feelings you experienced the day of, so you won’t find me rushing or interrupting you to move to the next part of the day.
By not interrupting any moments, and allowing the day to flow naturally as it is, it allows me to capture your day organically. I may lead and re-direct to better light so the photos themselves can look as beautiful as possible BUT, that’s really it. I know not everyone is used to being followed around with a camera all day, which is why having a good relationship with your photographer is so important! That way it’s more like I’m just a friend with a camera capturing all the moments as they happen. I understand that there is a time and place for direction and posing (think, family photos) but I focus more on shooting with intention, while capturing all the in between moments!
When editing your photos I keep one thing in mind — I want you to be able to look back at your photos decades from now and it feel like a window into the past. So I edit with true to life tones, with a cinematic, film like feel. There is nothing wrong with trendy edits, it’s just not my style. I am however a HUGE sucker for black + white images, there’s just something so emotion invoking about them, so expect to see a bunch in your gallery (don’t worry I’ll provide a color version if it needs it)
